VOLUNTEER

Get involved today! We have many ways that you can plug in to our organization. There is something for everyone of all commitment levels. Read below for more information.

WAYS TO SERVE

BE A MENTOR

Serve as a weekly mentor on Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday evenings. Being a mentor is all about building intentional relationships in order to make an impact in your mentee's lives.

SERVE A MEAL

Bring your small group, coworkers, friends, or family to a group mentoring session to serve a meal to our mentees. Either prepare a meal and bring it, or just come to help serve!

BE A TUTOR

Tutor our K-3rd grade mentees in their reading. The 3rd Grade Reading Guarantee shows that kids that can read at the appropriate grade level are more likely to be successful long term.

Mentors serve on a weekly basis during our group mentorship sessions on Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday evenings. They are a source of positive influence for their 3-4 mentees, and help guide them through life and teach good decision making skills. The minimum time commitment is 2 hours a week, but we always encourage mentors to spend time with their mentees one on one outside of group mentorship. The key to our mentorship program is to build relationship, trust, and consistency with your mentees.

HOSPITALITY

SERVE A MEAL WITH HOSPITALITY

Hospitality Partners play a key role in seeing our mentees grow strong in faith and in life. Three times a week, about 40 mentees and mentors sit down together family style to share a meal. We believe that students who sit down together with their mentors every week build more trust and overcome more obstacles. Akron Youth Mentorship needs partners to come alongside us and provide meals and assist us in our relationship building goals. We would love to have your family, friends, small group, or business come spend time with our Akron Youth Mentorship family!

TUTOR

BE A TUTOR

The State of Ohio has a 3rd Grade Reading Guarantee that ensures that students in grades K-3rd grade are provided with resources to get them to the appropriate reading level by the time they enter 4th grade and aren't falling behind. Akron Youth Mentorship's K-3rd Grade Reading Program puts a tutor in front of them to read books for one hour a week. This extra reading time gives our K-3rd grade mentees a little extra help making sure they are on track to meet state standards and be set up for success as they move into 4th grade.
